Description
Nos. 3 and 5 Market Place are a pair of houses located in Loddon. No. 3 is an early 17th-century house with a roughcast exterior and a steep pantile roof featuring gable ends, one of which has brick coping. The house has overhanging bracketed eaves and is two storeys tall with an attic. It has three sash windows, with the central first-floor window having glazing bars, while the others have vertical glazing bars only. The entrance features a central round-headed doorway with a semi-circular fanlight that has radial glazing bars, along with a panelled door. There are also two new gabled dormers and an earlier gabled wing at the rear.
Adjoining to the right (east) is No. 5, which dates from the early 19th century. This house is made of painted brick and has a low-pitched black glazed pantile roof with gable ends and brick dentil eaves. It is also two storeys tall and features one sash window with glazing bars, as well as a flush panelled door with a hood supported by sloped brackets.
