Description
A pair of cottages dated to the late 18th and early 19th centuries, located in Bergh Apton. The cottages are constructed with whitewashed brick and timber framing, and have a thatched roof with a 20th-century tiled extension. They are 1½ storeys high. The east-facing facade is symmetrical, with two entrance doors featuring vertical cover battens and elliptical arched tops. These doors are flanked by two-light, square-headed casement windows with Gothic glazing bars. Two dormers are present with pointed heads and intersecting glazing bars. Symmetrically positioned chimney stacks have three square, linked shafts for each stack. The north gable has a single ground-floor square-headed window with Gothic glazing bars and two attic windows with pointed arched heads, one featuring 'Y' tracery. A small attic louvre vent is situated in the gable apex. A central, pantiled lean-to extension on the west side is flanked by two-light ground-floor casements with Gothic heads and two-light dormers with 'Y' tracery. The lean-to extension also has three-light north and south windows with Gothic heads.
