Description
Coston Hall is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and 19th century. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and features black pantiled roofs. The main block, which is from the 17th century, has a likely later cross-wing on one side and a 19th-century addition at the rear. The main block is two storeys high with an attic. It has a full-length 20th-century flat-roofed rectangular bay window that includes the front door, along with one central 2-light window and two 3-light 19th-century mullion and transom windows above.
The east gable end has two 5-light and one 4-light (attic) 17th-century mullion and transom windows, which are topped with moulded brick pediments. The original ovolo-moulded brick mullions can still be seen in the attic window. There is a stack on the west gable end. The cross-wing is also two storeys tall, featuring modern windows and a large gable-end stack with three octagonal shafts. The 19th-century rear addition has 2-light and 3-light mullion and transom windows. The main block has a four-bay roof with collars, butt-purlins, and wind-bracing.
