Description
The Church of St. Michael is a former parish church that is now redundant. It primarily dates from the 13th century and is constructed of flint with ashlar dressings, featuring shallow-pitched roofs made of pantiles and slate. The church has a west tower, an aisleless nave with a south porch, and a chancel.
The west tower is three stages high, with short angle buttresses, Y-traceried bell-openings, and a 15th-century crenellated parapet that includes flushwork. The nave has four lancet windows, which are complemented by a continuous moulded stringcourse that aligns with the sills. The south pair of windows features hood-moulds with carved label-stops. The chancel also has four lancet windows, along with a late medieval three-light flat-headed window located in the partially rebuilt east wall. The south porch, built in the 16th century, is made of brick and flint and includes some diaper-patterned brickwork.
