Description
The Dog Public House is a public house dating from around 1700, constructed of red brick and covered with black glazed pantiles. It has a T-shaped plan, consisting of five bays and two storeys with an attic, featuring shaped gables. The façade includes vertical bands of coloured headers and rusticated brick quoins. There is a cross stack to the right and a gable end stack to the left.
In bays one, two, and four to five, the ground floor has recessed sash windows with flat arches, while the first floor also features recessed sashes. Bay three contains a doorway adorned with a double cable motif and a classical surround, topped with a canopy supported by consoles, along with a rectangular light above the door. The first floor of this bay has a segmental headed sash window with glazing bars and a keystone. The façade extends to a dormer that features a large semi-circular headed casement with a keystone.
On the right return, there is a ground floor sash window similar to those on the front, a first floor with a large panel for a name board, and an attic with a sash window under a segmental arch. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey wing that has a sawtooth brick cornice and red pantiles, with the first floor displaying two flat arches and altered fenestration and openings.
