Description
Upgate Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 16th century, with a floor added in the 17th century. It features a two-bay rendered timber frame and a thatched roof. The building is one storey high with an attic. The 18th-century windows have leaded lights and metal casements. There is a former five-light diamond mullion window located in the north gable. A later external stack has been added to the other gable end. Inside, there is an inserted floor and a queen post roof with one free-standing truss, which is now closed off by a 17th-century doorway.
