Description
This is a former farmhouse, likely dating to around 1600, with later alterations. It is of lobby entrance type. The original structure is timber frame, partially replaced with brick. A colour-washed returned brick gable-end with a stack was added in the 17th century. The roof is pantiled.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with an attic. Most of the windows are from the 18th century, featuring 2 and 3 lights with metal casements and leaded glazing. The ground floor windows have transoms. One 2-light window with a chamfered mullion survives. A modern gabled porch has been added, with a former doorway opposite an off-centre axial stack. The southwest gable end, which has been rebuilt, contains two sash windows with glazing bars. A hipped roof was added in the late 18th century. Later additions have been made to the rear of the property.
Inside, there is an original winding stair leading to the former entrance side of the stack. Two brick fireplaces are present, each featuring a 4-centred arch. The roof has chamfered beams with stepped stops, and re-used clasped purlin rafters are also visible.
