Description
Wacton House is an early 17th century timber-frame house. The south end of the house has been rebuilt in brick, featuring a stepped gable with one moulded brick finial (the other is missing) and an internal brick chimney stack with two octagonal flues with moulded bases. The roof is tiled with gabled ends. The house is two storeys high with an attic. Windows include two and three-light casements and sash windows with glazing bars. Three gabled dormers have pendants and 19th-century finials. A central brick chimney stack is also present. The rear (east) elevation incorporates a five-light window with ovolo moulded mullions. A mid-19th century red brick wing extends to the east, with sash windows and a hipped slate roof. A mid-19th century wing built from plastered clay lump is located on the north side.
