Description
This is a 3-stead threshing barn located 25 meters east of The Croft, dated 1664 according to a re-set stone plaque, although it is likely from the early 18th century. The barn is constructed of flint and brick, with the west side whitewashed. It features a thatched roof and has central full-height timber doors on the west side, flanked by two brick slit lights on each side, although a later building obscures the lights on the left. The barn has a gabled roof, with the south gable made of flint and brick dressings, which includes three slit brick lights and some diamond brick patterning. The gable head is stepped on brick kneelers, and there are opposing double doors on the east side. The east and north walls were rebuilt in brick in the early 20th century. There is a lean-to outbuilding that abuts the south gable wall. Inside, the roof structure consists of tie beams on arched braces and wall posts, with principals and two tiers of butt purlins, along with some straight windbracing. Late 20th-century alterations include the insertion of two mezzanine beams and floors.
