Description
The Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located on Church Street in Tibenham. The church features a north wall of the nave dating back to the 11th century, which includes a Norman window. The chancel, built in the late 13th century, has a three-light east window. The south aisle, constructed in the 14th century, contains a window with curvilinear tracery and a late Perpendicular straight-headed window, as well as similar Perpendicular clerestory windows. There is a 14th-century south doorway and a porch from the 15th century. The tall west tower, also from the 15th century, includes a stair turret, flushwork at the base, diagonal buttresses, and battlements with evangelists as pinnacles.
Inside, the church has a four-bay Decorated arcade with quatrefoil piers featuring shafts. The nave roof, which is arch-braced, dates to the late 14th century. At the east end of the south aisle is the Buxton chapel, built in 1635, which includes a family pew with a balustrade that is elevated to half the height of the chapel and accessed by a staircase with a balustrade. The church also boasts a fine 17th-century octagonal pulpit with a tester, strapwork, and obelisks, along with a 17th-century lectern and part of a 17th-century screen. The font features shafts around columns and an octagonal bowl with traceried sides. The church is constructed of flint rubble with stone dressings and has slate and lead roofs.
