Description

Folly House and Pineapple House are two houses located on the north side of St. Martin's Lane, dating from the 17th century with a 19th-century range. They are constructed from flint and brick rubble, featuring a rendered plinth and red brick dressings. The gable front is rendered, while the range to the right is painted brick, topped with a pantiled roof.

Folly House, on the left, is positioned at right angles to the street and has two storeys with a two-window range. It features a simple panelled door from the 19th century, framed by a wooden architrave and topped with a small hood supported by decorative consoles. The first floor has casement windows with leaded lights, including one with an iron frame. A 19th-century stepped gable on kneelers is adjacent to a later extension at the rear. The street-facing side has two 20th-century ground floor casements and two small hexagonal windows on the first floor, along with iron ties. The side elevation displays mullioned casements.

Pineapple House, on the right, also has two storeys. It features a 19th-century bressumer over a carriage arch to the left and half-glazed double-leaf doors to the right. The first floor includes two 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. The later three-window range to the right is not of special architectural interest.
