Description
The Castle Public House is a pair of houses that have been converted into a public house, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a partially rendered plinth and features a hipped pantile roof along with two rear brick chimneys. It stands three storeys high and has three second-floor windows.
Each unit has a panelled (part-glazed) door to the left, which is topped by an overlight; the right door has radial glazing bars in its overlight. These doors are set in panelled reveals with simple architraves and small hoods. On the ground floor to the left, there is a 20th-century tripartite window, while to the right, there is a 16-pane sash window. The first floor features two similar sash windows. The second-floor windows are smaller, all set in flush-fronted wooden frames beneath cambered brick arches. The building is topped with a modillion cornice, and the rendered right gable includes 20th-century brick kneelers.
