Description
White Cottages at The Great Hospital are almshouses built in 1826. They are constructed of yellow brick with stone dressings and feature a hipped slate roof, along with six tall brick chimneys that have four shafts each. The building is single storey and has a modified range of twelve windows, which are casements with horizontal glazing bars. The central bay projects and includes a Tudor-arched ribbed door with a drip mould, flanked by two-light windows beneath a stepped gable. There are pairs of similar smaller doors on the right and left, although two of these doors are now blocked. These doors are set deeply in projecting porches that also have drip moulds. Additionally, there are single porches in a similar style at each end of the building.
