Description

Garsett House is a 16th-century house that has been converted into an office. It features a timber frame that is rendered, with a hipped pantile roof and a brick chimney on the left side. The building stands three storeys tall, with the first and second floors jettied on decorated corner brackets, although one of these brackets is broken. The Princes Street facade has two second-floor windows, while the ground floor displays blocked 16th-century windows with four-centred heads and moulded surrounds. There is a tripartite sash window on the ground floor that has glazing bars only in the upper half. A renewed oriel window on the first floor is supported by brackets and features diamond leaded lights. One of the second-floor sash windows has glazing bars and horns, while the lights of another have been blocked.

On the side elevation facing St. George's Street, there is a step leading up to a six-panelled door with a plain overlight, panelled reveals, and an 18th-century hood that has a triglyph frieze supported by two plastered and two fluted Doric columns. The upper floors contain sash windows, and the rear elevation facing St. Andrew Street has scattered mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights. A corbelled chimney is topped with a pediment above a tablet that bears the name 'Armada House' along with a representation of a 16th-century ship. The building also features two Dutch-style gables.
