Description
38 and 40 Bethel Street is a former house that has been converted into an office. It dates back to the 18th century and is constructed of red brick with a black pantile roof. The building stands three stories tall and features five bays. The central entrance has a door flanked by Ionic columns, which support a pulvinated frieze and a pediment. The door is surrounded by a moulded and eared inner frame with a keystone. Throughout the building, there are sash windows with glazing bars, and the windows are topped with rubbled brick flat arches that also include keystones. Notably, there is one 17th-century window located in the rear wall. The building is accented by rusticated brick quoins and has a box cornice. The roof is hipped. Inside, there is a fine central staircase and high-quality paneling and fireplace details in the east room on the ground floor.
