Description
17 Palace Street is a former house that has been converted into flats. It dates from the 18th century, with a 17th-century rear range. The building is constructed of red brick, and the roof is not visible. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-storey extension on the left side, featuring five main bays plus two additional bays.
The central entrance door is flanked by fluted pilasters that support an architrave adorned with triglyphs and a floral motif, topped with a pediment. To the right of the door, there is a three-light sash window separated by pilasters. The building has sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches, with a central window featuring a semi-circular arch and a top sash. Keystones are present throughout the structure.
A moulded brick cornice runs beneath the attic storey, and there is a parapet with brick quoins. The two-bay extension also has sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches, along with a bracket cornice and parapet. The ground floor rooms are panelled, and there is a notable staircase inside.
