Description
Sloley Old Hall is a house dating from the early 18th century, incorporating some early 17th-century work. It is constructed of brick, primarily in Flemish bond, and has a thatched roof. The building consists of two sections, each two storeys high, with a brick plinth. The right-hand section features five bays and a central door, which is surrounded by reeded pilasters. The door is a six-panel design, with the top two panels glazed. The ground floor has 19th-century casements beneath hood moulds, while the upper floor has 19th-century wood mullions. The right-hand gable end has a shaped design with clustered polygonal shafts for the internal stack. There is a remnant of a brick wall in English bond at the right end of the facade, which corbels out at ground floor level. The right-hand gable wall is also in English bond, but the raised and shaped gable is in Flemish bond. The left-hand section is two storeys with two bays and a slightly lower roof, featuring 19th-century wood mullions. The left-hand gable is simpler and shaped in Flemish bond with diapering. Inside, there is some 18th-century panelling in an upstairs room. To the right of the facade, there is a notable garden wall that runs at right angles to the house.
