Description
House. Built in 1815, Sloley Hall was designed by the amateur architect Reverend William Gunn. The house is constructed of gault brick with a slate roof. It comprises two ranges of two storeys. The main range consists of five bays, with the central bay slightly recessed and featuring a porch supported by fluted Doric columns. The porch has a frieze incorporating metopes and triglyphs and a plain cornice. The double doors have a glazed upper half and a hinged shutter behind the lower panel, with a light above. The sash windows, set under flat arches of rubbed and gauged brick, have glazing bars and stone sills. A wooden dentil eaves cornice runs around the building, and the double hipped roof is punctuated by two stacks in the gully. A lower two-storey range is located to the left, also with sash windows featuring glazing bars and two axial stacks.
