Description
The Old School House, now divided into two houses, dates from the early 17th century and has been altered later. It features a T-shaped plan and is constructed of brick and flint with a thatched roof. The south range is two storeys high and has three bays with a flint facade. There is a central 20th-century porch with a 20th-century door and 20th-century mullions that have narrow brick reveals. Above the porch is a blocked window with brick reveals. The gable walls have brick corners, and the right-hand gable is made of flint and brick. The left-hand gable also consists of flint and brick, with some stone quoins and two blocked windows with narrow brick reveals on the first floor. To the right, there is a single-storey extension that is of no special interest. A later second wing, also two storeys, has random 20th-century fenestration and features a chequerwork flint and brick facade. It has an off-centre axial stack, and the doorway is now located in the centre of this range. There is an internal gable stack and a renewed gable wall, with the roofline slightly lower than that of the first range.
