Description

Church House is a good early 18th-century house located on Church Street in Little Walsingham. The building is constructed of red brick with flint end walls and features a steep black-glazed pantile roof with brick coping at the gable ends. It has a moulded eaves cornice and a brick string course at floor level, rising to two storeys. The façade includes five windows, which are sashes with original thick glazing bars set in exposed casings, and flat brick arches, with a round-headed window in the center of the first floor.

The central doorway is framed by wide pilasters and an entablature with a pediment, featuring fielded-panel reveals and a fielded panel door. There are brick chimney stacks at each end of the house. The right-hand (north) wing, likely built in the early 19th century, is set back and lower, with two storeys and only one first-floor casement window. It is also made of red brick and has a hipped pantile roof.

Inside the main part of the house, there are said to be good panelled rooms. The front garden area is enclosed by a Victorian white-painted wooden fence that curves, with square chamfered posts topped with onion-shaped finials and thin circular shafts in between. The central gate is also curved and matches the design of the fence. There is a low red brick wall at each end of the fence, extending to the corners of the front of the house.
