Description

The Church of St Mary and All Saints is a Grade I listed building located on Church Street in Little Walsingham. This church dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. In 1961, it was severely damaged by fire, leaving only the tower and north porch intact. The remainder of the church has since been restored, featuring a new nave roof and new arcades. The structure is built of flint with stone dressings and includes a nave, chancel, north and south aisles, north and south transepts, a west tower topped with a lead needle spire, and a west porch. There is also a two-storeyed vaulted south porch from the 15th century. The church features new and restored Perpendicular windows. A notable feature is the 15th-century font located on steps, which depicts the Seven Sacraments and the Crucifixion on its bowl. The 17th-century font cover was lost in the fire, which also destroyed the 15th-century screens. Additionally, there is a significant monument from 1612 dedicated to Sir Henry Sidney and his wife.
