Description

This is a farmhouse, later adapted as a house, dating from circa 1720, with substantial rebuilding and enlargement in circa 1790. The building is constructed of brick, with a roof covered in pantiles, and black-glazed pantiles to the front facade. It is two storeys high and has a five-window front on the south side. The central entrance features a half-glazed door topped with a seven-vaned fanlight, set within a reeded surround, and sheltered by a flat porch hood supported by a pair of timber columns. The windows are 6/6 sashes with gauged skewback arches. The roof is a twin-span design with gable-end stacks at each end.

A conservatory was added in the 1960s to the east side, with access from the house via a pair of French doors of a similar date. The gable line of an earlier single-storey building remains visible on this return, along with two first-floor casement windows. A full-height outshut, dating from circa 1850, extends to the rear, featuring 6/6 homed sashes to both floors. The west return displays two rainwater heads bearing the initials ‘J $’.

Inside, a stick-baluster staircase is a notable feature. Six-panelled doors and shuttered windows with reeded architraves are present throughout the ground floor. The first-floor south rooms have been converted into a twin bedroom suite, with a dressing room situated between them. The roof structure comprises principals, collars, and two tiers of taper-tenoned butt purlins.
