Description
The Corn Mill, located on Hempton Road in Fakenham, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building features a yellow brick façade on the east side and a red brick façade on the west side, topped with a slate roof that has gabled ends. At the center, there is a pedimented gable with a lunette. The structure has a symmetrical design with three bays on either side of a slightly projecting central bay, featuring sash windows with glazing bars and flat brick arches, some of which are blind. The ground floor includes four round-headed doors, two of which are blocked, with a passageway on the left side. A string course runs at the first-floor level.
At the south end, there is an early 19th-century section that rises three storeys and has two windows. This part is constructed of yellow and red brick and features a hipped slated roof with paired eaves brackets and wide pilasters, along with sash windows that have glazing bars. There are later 19th-century additions on the north and west sides of the building.
