Description

No. 1, 2, 3 The Street is a row of cottages built in two phases, with Nos. 1 and 2 dating from 1693, indicated by a datestone and the initials W I. The cottages are constructed from flint with brick dressings and topped with red pantiles. They are two storeys tall, having been heightened and re-roofed.

On the ground floor, Nos. 1 and 2 feature two cast-iron two-light casements with glazing bars, along with one two-light wooden casement. The first floor has two two-light wooden casements and one cast-iron two-light casement with glazing bars. The brick dressings around the openings, brick quoins, and a dentil eaves cornice add to the architectural detail. No. 1 has a flint and brick outshut at the rear and boarded doors.

No. 3 has one two-light cast-iron casement with glazing bars and one wooden two-light casement on the ground floor, while the first floor has two cast-iron two-light casements with glazing bars. The south gable features a stone tablet inscribed with T W A E 1713. The row is topped with two ridge stacks and one stack at the south gable end.
