Description

WEST BECKHAM THE STREET TG 13 NW 4/57 Chestnut Farmhouse - II House. C17, subsequently altered. Flint with brick dressings. Glazed black pantile roof. 3-cell plan, now sub-divided. Facade of 4 bays, 2 storeys. Early C20 casements. To extreme left a blocked small window between floors. C20 door to second bay. Small blocked light to extreme right with chamfered reveals; similar to first floor. 4 casements to first floor. Evidence of earlier openings with C17 brick reveals. Moulded kneelers to gable. Gable- end stacks. 2 blocked lights to left hand gable, now cut by shallower pitched roof; added single storey range with hipped roof. C19 windows to right hand gable. Rear partly obscured by vegetation. Central long window to ground floor, now blocked. Small light between floors at left hand end. Interior: Right hand ground floor room with English bond brick to fireback. Ovolo moulded bressummer beam with bar and ogee stops. Further ovolo moulded beams. Panelling to left hand upper room with ogee mouldings to the muntins; 2 doors now to cupboards. Heavy chamfer to spine beam.
