Description
Bengate Farm House is a house dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed of brick and flint, likely originally timber-framed, and has been refronted with a thatched roof. The facade features five bays and is two storeys high. There is a flint plinth and a central door from the 20th century, along with 20th-century leaded casements in altered openings. The leftmost bay is made of brick and has a segmental arch above the ground floor window. The next two bays are of flint, which is not bonded to the adjacent bays, and they have brick reveals around the door and windows. The remaining three bays are of brick. There is an axial stack located between the first and second bays, and a stack on the right-hand gable end. The left-hand gable return is made of flint with diapering and brick quoins. To the right side, there is a single-storey extension that is of no special interest. Inside, the left-hand ground floor room features a double roll moulding on the spine beam, while the ground floor room to the left of the door has an ovolo moulding on its spine beam.
