Description

Apple Cottage is an 18th-century or earlier cottage, located on the west side of Stiffkey Bridge Street. It is constructed with whitewashed brick and plaster walls, and has a red pantile roof. The building is one and a half storeys high and comprises four bays, with adjoining outhouses. On the ground floor are two three-light casement windows, plus a lean-to window bay containing a two-light casement. A partly glazed boarded door is also present. A brick dentil cornice runs along the top of the building, above which are three two-light dormers. Parapetted gables at the south suggest a re-roofing occurred at some point. A stack is located on the south gable, positioned off-centre. The cottage was once part of a pair. A further projecting bay, a one-storey cottage set at a right angle, now connects to a house, and is whitewashed. This section has flint walls and red pantiles. A one-storey wing, with flint and pantiles to the north, extends from the main axis.
