Description

Oak Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century facade. The building is constructed of brick, which has been colourwashed on the front, and features roofs made of black glazed pantiles. It stands two storeys tall and is arranged in three bays. The central door is set behind an elegant Greek Doric porch, which is supported by fluted columns and has rear pilasters, along with a Doric entablature above. The early 19th-century sash windows, which include glazing bars, are positioned below gauged skewback arches. At the corners of the building, giant pilasters rise to a plain parapet. The gabled roof has end stacks that were both rebuilt in the late 20th century. A datestone on the north gable indicates the year 1773. At the rear, there is a two-storey gabled cross wing that has been significantly rebuilt in the 1980s.

Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase featuring stick balusters and a ramped and wreathed handrail, which has been ingeniously fitted into a space not originally designed for it. In the cross wing, there is a re-used early 16th-century multiply rolled bridging beam, along with additional 16th-century roll moulded joists that are not in their original positions and do not come from the same building as the bridging beam. The spine beam has sunk quadrant mouldings.
