Description
The Vinery is a Grade II* listed vinery built in 1780 by Samuel Wyatt. It is constructed of gault brick with Coade stone decorations and has a slate roof. The building features a large lean-to glass-house on the south side. The main facade faces north and consists of two storeys with seven bays. The central bay is slightly projected and topped with a stepped parapet. There is a large opening with an elliptical rubbed brick arch and an ornate fanlight supported by Ionic columns in antis. The central entrance has a two-leaf door with plastered niches on either side. A plain stone band runs along the first-floor cill level, which is only enriched in the central bay. The windows are sashes with glazing bars and have gauged brick arches above them. Internal gable chimney stacks and a moulded eaves cornice complete the design.
