Description
This barn, built around 1700, is located approximately 70 meters north of Hunworth Hall. It is aligned from south-west to north-east and features coursed flint construction beneath pantiles, with brick dressings and ventilation slits. The barn consists of five bays. The north-east gable is raised and displays the initials EB, which stand for Edmund Britiffe, who died in 1726, in iron on the raised section. There are three brick-dressed ventilation slits and a hole on this gable, along with large central doors facing north-west.
A late 18th-century extension to the south-east has lower walls made of flint and upper walls of brick, supported by large slanting brick buttresses on the north-east side. The extension features a weather-boarded gable above large doors set in a brick wall. Inside, the barn has a roof supported by double collar beams and two tiers of staggered purlins, with some rafters having been renewed. The threshing floor is made of thin tiles. An addition at the south-west end connects to a stock shed and a cow shed, making this barn part of a group that includes the stock shed, cow shed, and pig sties.
