Description
This is an early 17th-century house with later additions and alterations. The main part of the house is rendered and colour-washed, with a hipped roof covered in black, unglazed pantiles. It has a 'L' shaped layout and originally had three windows and four bays, arranged over two storeys. A wide, central front door has six panels within a moulded doorcase, topped by a small, pedimented canopy. A window above the door is made of colour-washed brick, featuring two ovolo-moulded brick mullions; similar windows on the front are now concealed by the rendering. There are two three-light casement windows on each floor, with glazing bars, those on the ground floor also including transoms. A central chimney stack is rendered. The right return wall is rendered and scored, with a single 16-pane sash window with glazing bars on each floor. A rendered platband runs along the eaves. The return wall to the left is also rendered and scored.
A later, 18th-century rear wing extends to the right, constructed of brick and flint with pantile roofing. It has three bays and is one-and-a-half storeys high, featuring a dog tooth cornice. Two double casement windows with glazing bars are set under segmental heads on the ground floor. Three early two-light casement windows with glazing bars and leaded panes are on the upper floor; one original casement, with pintle hinges and leaded panes, remains at the rear of the wing. Later additions to the rear of the house date to the 19th and 20th centuries.
Inside the main range, the central stack is enclosed. The ground floor rooms to the left and right have decorative bar stops to the stop-chamfered spine beams, while the room to the left features ovolo-moulded beams.
