HOCKWOLD CUM WILTON SOUTH STREET TL 78 NW 16/23 Gainsborough House - II House. Late Cl7, refaced C18. Timber framed, brick and flint with thatched roof. Lobby entrance plan. Whitewashed 2 storey facade. Central C20 door and gabled porch set within timber framed bay of light scantling and small framing. One segmental C20 casement to right and left. 2 similar first floor casements in reduced openings. North bay recessed behind facade line and with first floor timber framed. Gabled roof, hipped to north. Central ridge stack. North bay probably originally jettied to north, now underbuilt with brick and flint and pierced by 4 C20 windows. Walls of rear elevation rebuilt at ground floor but of chequered brick and flint otherwise. C20 door and porch to left. 2 widely spaced C20 casements each floor set within reduced openings. South gable of C18 stock brick, the gable head of chequered brick and flint with brick tumbling. Interior chimney breasts with roll and jewel stopped chamfered bressumers.
