Description
Nos. 36, 38, and 40 on Sea Lane in Old Hunstanton are a row of former Coastguard Cottages built around 1818, as indicated by a datestone on nearby Nos. 37 to 43 Wodehouse Road. These three two-storey cottages are constructed from squared and coursed carstone with a red pantiled roof. Each cottage features three ground floor three-light arched headed wooden casements with single glazing bar divisions, along with three part-glazed 19th-century doors. All ground floor openings are set under carstone arches. On the first floor, there are three two-light casements, also divided by single glazing bars. The cottages have a hipped roof and two brick axial stacks. They form an enclosed court with the odd-numbered cottages at 37 to 43 and No. 35 Wodehouse Road to the east.
