Description
No. 24, 26, and 28, known as The Red House, are a row of three houses located on Church Street in North Creake, built in 1778. The houses are constructed of red brick with a red pantiled roof and feature two storeys with attics, arranged in an "L" shape with an east-returned gable. The gable has one sash window on the ground floor, two on the first floor, and one in the attic, all with glazing bars. There are two blocked ground floor openings that have flat rubbed brick arches, indicating earlier, narrower windows. The gable is elaborately shaped with a coped brick parapet and includes 'TH' purlin-iron stops, along with a datestone marking the year 1778.
To the north, there is a range that has one sash window with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors, as well as one fixed casement with glazing bars. There is a wooden doorcase from around 1800 that features two Greek Doric fluted quarter columns set at a canted angle, leading to a six-panel door with four glazed panels and a simple arched fanlight without tracery. No. 26 has two windows, while No. 24 has three windows, and both are included for their group value. The building has one ridge stack and one stack at the north end.
