Description

Church Farmhouse and Church Farm Cottage is a farmhouse that features a 17th century rear section and a front section dating from around 1800. The building is constructed of coursed and random rubble flint with brick dressings, topped with red pantiled roofs. It is two storeys high with a three-bay front.

On the ground floor, there are two segmental arched openings fitted with 20th century replacement casements. The first floor has three openings: a central casement cross window flanked by 20th century metal frame casements, with some openings partly bricked up. The brick-dressed openings are complemented by end quoins and a dentil eaves cornice. The wooden doorcase features half columns and entablature blocks, topped with an open pediment gable. Inside, there are raised and fielded reveals, an intrados, and a six-panel door with a sunburst glazing bar fanlight.

The rear wing, which extends at right angles to the north, has a central 20th century metal frame window and a four-light casement, along with three first floor plate glass sashes that include glazing bars. It has an architrave surround doorcase with a pentice canopy and a four-panel door, two of which are glazed. On the south side, there is a first floor brick-dressed fire window and a large end gable stack with a straight joint division. To the north, there is an axial stack on the ridge, also with a straight joint division in the walls.

The attached cottage to the north shares the same construction style and has one ground floor window, two first floor windows, and one ground floor door. The first floor features stitchings of a long and low window with a brick surround, and the north gable has a brick coped parapet.
