Description

The Crown Inn is a 17th-century building that has been altered and incorporates earlier work. It is constructed of brick and flint, with a tiled and slated roof. The front of the inn is limewashed and features two storeys with four near-flush frame sash windows, complete with glazing bars, on the first floor, including a window above the coachway. There is a wooden eaves cornice with plain brackets and a mounting platform. Inside, the inn has two staircases that boast massive turned balusters and panelled square newels. The Crown Inn is part of a group with Nos 10 to 16 (even) and Nos 8 to 10 (consecutive) in the Market Place.
