Description

The memorial to Edmund Hammond is located approximately 3 metres southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Mary. It dates from 1643 for Hammond and 1660 for his wife, Maria Salter, although it may have been constructed later. The memorial features brick walls and a coped tapering lid made of limestone. The east face has a limestone slab, while the west face is made of grey limestone and includes a Latin inscription dedicated to Edmund Hammond, Gent, from 1643, and his wife, Maria Salter, from 1660.
