Description
Old St Margaret's Church is a ruin of a parish church dating from the late 13th and 14th centuries. It is constructed of flint with ashlar dressings and some brick, and it has no roofs remaining. The structure includes a west tower, a nave, a chancel, and a north aisle that extends to both the nave and chancel. The tower is square and has three stages, supported by diagonal buttresses on the west side. The exterior features knapped flint and a two-light Perpendicular west window. There are small cusped two-light belfry windows with square heads and a plain parapet. The north aisle has three-light reticulated east and west windows, with only fragments of tracery remaining in the eastern window. The north side of the aisle is pierced by cinquefoil lancets, and there are also lancets on the south side of the nave. Inside, the east window of the aisle is flanked by ogee niches.
