Description

This is a row of five cottages located on White Street in Martham. They were originally built in the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages appear to be built on an earlier clay lump structure. They have thatched roofs and are all one storey with a dormer attic. All have 20th-century doors, except for number 64, which retains an earlier 19th-century plank door. Each cottage has a 20th-century segmental-headed casement window on the ground floor, with the exception of number 66, which has an early 19th-century window. Number 68 is distinguished by an enriched dentil eaves cornice. The cottages have gabled roofs and one or two gabled dormers with tiled fronts; numbers 60 and 62 each have two dormers, number 60 with 19th-century casements and number 62 with 20th-century windows. The remaining cottages have one dormer each, all with 20th-century windows. The cottages have internal gable end stacks to the south (number 60), a shared ridge stack between numbers 62 and 64, an internal north gable end stack at number 66, and an internal north gable end stack at number 68.
