Description

This is a terrace of five houses located at 10-14 Regent Street, Great Yarmouth. The terrace dates to 1813 and was later fitted out with shops to the ground floor during the late 19th century. The supervising architect was John Green. The houses are constructed of gault brick with pantiled roofs. They are three storeys high, with each house having a three-bay, three-window facade. Pilaster strips rise vertically on either side to the parapet. The ground floor features shop fronts dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The first-floor windows are 6/6 recessed sash windows with gauged skewback arches above. The second-floor windows are similar sashes but with 3/3 glazing bars. The windows of number 12 have been replaced. The roof is gabled with ridge stacks marking the division between the properties. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Regent Street was laid out in 1813 as the first planned east-west route connecting the Quay to the Market Place, capable of accommodating more than narrow carts.
