Description
This early 19th-century warehouse and showroom, formerly a house with a warehouse behind, was extended with an additional storey in the late 19th century and altered internally in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick under a slate roof.
The exterior is three storeys high with a three-window front. The ground floor features two display windows; the right-hand window is modern, and the left-hand window dates to the late 19th century, with plate glass and tulip-shaped side pieces and a modillion cornice. A modern door is set behind a doorcase consisting of a pair of fluted, engaged columns rising to block entablatures, a reeded frieze, and a modillion hood. The first floor has three 6/6 sash windows in flush frames, the right-hand window lacking horns and set under a gauged skewback arch. The other two windows have been rebuilt under 20th-century soldier arches. Four horned sash windows are present on the second floor, without glazing bars. The roof is hipped, with a side stack to the north. A whitewashed brick warehouse extends to the northeast along Row 77 and incorporates fragments of 18th-century brickwork.
The rear warehouse has a roof of A-frame trusses. The building is included for group value.
