Description

A barn, dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and rebuilding in the 18th century, situated 55 metres south of the War Memorial. The barn is constructed of red brick with a thatched roof. It consists of three original steads, extended eastward in the 18th century, plus a continuous outshut to the south. A 20th-century galvanized steel extension is attached to the north. The western three steads have a brick plinth. The central northern barn doors are flanked by shallow piers. The north-east wall features a vent slit. The gable ends are parapeted and include tie irons and an owl hole. The eastern three steads have a central barn door, a parapeted gable to the east with brick tumbling, tie irons, and an owl hole. The southern outshut has mixed roof pitches and materials, and the central section comprises four pig sties with stable doors and brick pens. The interior has a 7-bay butt purlin roof with tie beams on wall posts in each of the three steads.
