Description
The Thatched Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, constructed of rendered brick and covered with reed thatch. It has two storeys and features a rear outshut. The cottage has two windows and two doors, which were added in the late 20th century but are in their original openings. The roof has parapet verges with end stacks, and there is evidence of a string course and moulded brick kneelers beneath the render. On the south side, there are two large eyebrow dormers from the 20th century. Inside, there are two large brick open fireplaces with stopped and chamfered timber bressumers, as well as exposed first floor joists and an axial beam. The roof structure is double framed, and at the west end, there are two raised cruck trusses, likely from the 19th century.
