Description
The stables, located approximately 30 meters north-west of Salhouse Hall, were built in 1764 and feature 19th-century additions and remodelling. The structure is made of red brick and has a hipped roof covered with black-glazed pantiles. The south facade is symmetrical, with three door openings that have segmental heads; the two outer openings appear to have been reduced in height. The central opening is larger and features double doors leading into the stalls. There are also two 19th-century single light window openings with cusped heads and square drip moulds. A central 19th-century dormer includes a single light window with a drip mould, and the gable is parapeted and coped.
The north elevation displays scattered 18th-century fenestration with casements that have segmental heads, including one first-floor opening with chamfered reveals. There is a first-floor door opening and two vents with trefoiled heads in the east wall. At the south-west corner, a castellated red brick wall connects to the south boundary wall. The gateway is slightly off-centre and features chamfered reveals and brick buttresses topped with round finials. Additionally, there are two blocked segmental-headed openings in the plinth.
