Description
The Corn Barn and Cart Shed at The Grove is a Grade II listed structure located in Great and Little Plumstead. This building, primarily from the 19th century, is constructed of flint and brick with pantiled roofs. It features an 8-bay open-fronted cart shed with an attic storey on the east side, and it is attached to a three-steaded barn on the west. The cart shed is made of flint and is open to the north, supported by heavy oak posts on stone bases. The east bay is blocked with boarding and contains stairs leading to the granary. There are inserted doors in the east gable wall, topped with a parapet gable. The barn, built on a flint plinth, is made of brick and has central full-height barn doors on the north side, with lower doors on the opposite south side. There are also inserted openings on the west and east gable walls. The cart shed features 19th-century king post trusses, and the barn has a 19th-century purlin roof with trusses. A rear outshut to the south is not considered of special interest. This building is included for its group value.
