Description

South Lodge Cottage is likely a surviving cross wing of a late 16th-century manor house. It is built of red brick with decorative diapering, a flint plinth, and a slate roof. The cottage originally comprised one bay, with a 19th-century lean-to added to the west and a 20th-century lean-to with an asbestos roof added to the south. The cottage is two storeys high with an attic. The southern gable end features splayed brick openings topped with pediments; these openings decrease in size as they rise to the attic storey. Some of the original openings have been partially blocked and are now fitted with 19th-century casement windows of three lights.
