Description
International Stores is a building from the mid-18th century and later, located on the north side of Aylsham Market Place. It features a red brick structure with a hipped slate roof, and an additional range to the north with a tiled roof. The building is two storeys high, with a five-bay facade facing the Market Place. The first floor has sash windows, which are set beneath rubbed brick arches and include glazing bars. The central opening is blank but has painted-on glazing bars. There is a wooden eaves cornice and a modern full-width shop front, flanked by two brick pilasters with moulded caps. To the north, there is a late 19th-century wing that is also made of red brick and has a tiled roof. This wing is two storeys high with an attic, featuring openings that include some blank spaces, all with segmental heads and keys. It has a moulded brick string course and a moulded terra cotta eaves course, along with a central gabled dormer on the west side and two chimney stacks.
