Description

This is a range of 17th-century cottages located on Church Street, in the parish of Newton St. Faith. The cottages are constructed of red brick with a steeply pitched pantile roof, with a hipped end to the east. They are two storeys high. The window arrangement is irregular and largely altered in the 20th century, featuring mainly modern casement windows. The windows are set within plain raised brick surrounds with aprons. Number 1 has two ground floor casements with chamfered brick reveals and moulded brick labels above. Raised brick medallions are positioned between the first floor windows of numbers 1 to 5. A brick string course with a roll-moulded top runs along the first floor level. The east wall was rebuilt in the 20th century. The west gable is crow-stepped, featuring an internal chimney stack, and there are two axial chimney stacks.
