Description
Waytes House is an 18th-century house, possibly with an earlier core, located on the south side of Church Street in Newton St. Faith. The building features colourwashed brick and flint construction with brick quoins and a steeply pitched pantile roof. It has two storeys and three bays, with sash windows that include glazing bars and segmental heads over the ground floor openings. A brick platband runs at the first floor cill level. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door framed by a plain wooden doorcase and topped with a canopy supported by console brackets. The west gable is parapeted and has an internal stack, although the gable was rebuilt in the 20th century. The eaves are moulded and oversail the gable courses. There is possibly an earlier bay to the east featuring a large axial stack and a parapeted gable wall at the junction of the two builds. Later extensions have been added to the south side.
