Description
Litcham Hall is a house built in 1781, as indicated by the rainwater hoppers that feature the initials N.R. (Nicholas Raven). The building was reduced in size in 1845. It is constructed of brick with stone and stucco dressings. Originally designed in a U shape, only the main block remains today. The house has two storeys, attics, and a cellar, and it was formerly three storeys tall, with only the advanced centre bay still reaching full height.
The façade consists of five bays of sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath skewback arches. Stone platbands connect the window sills. The front door is framed by a stucco aedicule from 1845, featuring an arched entrance flanked by arched margin lights supported by pilasters, and topped with a cornice and a broken pediment. The 1845 moulded cornice displays an unusual triglyph-derived motif. The rising centre bay includes a bullseye window and a broken pediment. Inside, the staircase features an open string, square-sectioned balusters, and a swept mahogany handrail.
